Awaken: Chaos Era is a roleplaying game from Century Games Publishing. This free-play game whisked players away to a fantasy world, where battles between light and darkness range. Here, you will play as a hero that the land desperately needs. To do so, you must recruit the best heroes and create a powerful group of four.
Awaken: Chaos Era uses a combat system found in most classic JRPGs. Each character has three different combat abilities that usually trigger a video sequence similar to the summons in the Final Fantasy Saga. Although, the heroes' skills are basic and boring.
What is Awaken: Chaos Era?
Awaken: Chaos Era is a fantasy RPG where you play as a hero for an ancient land struggling between light and darkness. Your goal is to fight against the forces of evil and bring back peace. To do that, you have to put together a motley group of four heroes. The characters you can recruit belong to different factions. You have to assemble the right combinations to dismantle the enemies.
The story mode of the game will take you to several different chapters. Each will consist of more than a dozen levels, in which you will face tons of enemies. Moreover, the chapters are set in a different region of the world, allowing you to see a variety of settings as well. The combat system is turned-based, where you will act with each of your heroes in fast-paced PVP action.
The game comes with an immersive story and captivating 3D artworks. However, the UI could use improvements as it is difficult to see the names of the heroes on the portrait. Moreover, some heroes look like other heroes. As mentioned, the character skills are basic and boring. Additionally, you have to grind a bit since leveling up and starring up units takes forever.
Should you play it?
Awaken: Chaos Era brings you a spectacular fantasy universe full of magic and monsters. The game has solid gameplay with a rich and immersive narrative. However, it could use a few more improvements, especially with its UI. The heroes are also basic, requiring you to be creative with team building. Lastly, the game is stingy with the rewards, making it taxing to level up.
